Animal Tracking
 
 

The study of animal tracks is a never ending and exciting process that can be a lifelong indever. The purpose of this course is to awaken an interest in tracking and to provide one with the techniques and methods used to study and follow animal tracks. Colin Patrick Training offers tracking courses that introducers people to the wonderful world of tracking. These Courses are designed to be of benefit to both the novice tracker and yet at the same time to fine tune the skills of an experienced tracker.

The course is practically based so that means a lot of time is spent out in the bush studying tracks and signs and following trails.
 

The following aspects are covered during the course,

  • Principles of tracking

  • Track & Sign identification

  • The study of animal gaits and movement

  • Tracking techniques

  • The study of animal behaviour and signs

  • Animal trailing methods

At the end of the course students have the option of undergoing an assessment.
These assessments are accredited by Cybertracker conservation and the Field guides association of Southern Africa - this course includes an accredited assessment at the end of the course.

Colin Patrick Training is an accredited training provider and registered SASSETA and Cathseta assessors carry out the training.
Whether you are from a hunting , security or tourism based background, or if you are just wanting to enhance your tracking skills, then this course is for you.

These Tracking courses are conducted for various game reserves , lodges and individuals throughout Africa and the following options are available

Onsite training and assessments

  • 6 day course (Min 6 & max 12 candidates)

  • Which either deals with Track & Sign identification or Trailing training

Assessments only

  • Track & Sign assessment (Min 6 candidates)

  • Trailing assessment (Min 2 candidates)
